Peter J. Richardson Peter Richardson is a 1983 Cum Laude graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law and is a member of the Idaho Bar Association. From 1984 through 1987 Peter served as staff counsel to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission specializing in electric utility rate cases. In 1987 Peter was called upon to establish the Consumer Protection Division in the Idaho Attorney General's Office and served as chief counsel of that division until going into private legal practice in 1988. The core of Peter's law practice is in the area of administrative law with a subject matter emphasis on energy development and public utilities law. Some of the representative clients he has performed services for include the Industrial Customers of Idaho Power Company, the Independent Energy Producers of Idaho and the PURPA Developers of Utah Power & Light. Mr. Richardson represents large individual industrial consumers as well, including the J. R. Simplot Company and Micron Technology, Inc. Mr. Richardson also represents consumer-owned utilities and their organizations such as the Idaho Energy Authority, Inc., Lower Valley Power & Light and Kootenai Electric Cooperative. In addition, he has represented independent power producers in negotiating power purchase agreements with investor owned utilities and in securing financing for the projects once the power sales agreement was secured. Mr. Richardson has also served as hearing officer/moderator in public meetings and hearings regarding the preparation of complex environmental impact statements for the Department of Energy and its contractors. Mr. Richardson is active in community affairs as well. He serves a member of the Board of Directors of the Boise State University Foundation and the Boise State University Alumni Association. He was recently elected to serve a four term as the Democratic National Committeeman representing the State of Idaho. He is married to Betty Richardson, the United States Attorney for the District of Idaho. He and Betty have two children. Mr. Richardson practices in the areas of regulatory and administrative law with a subject matter emphasis in energy, telecommunications, regulatory and public utility law. |
